area amenitiesWeston has and is surrounded by development features and amenities that truly complement and support the park.  Restaurants, hotels, banks, travel agencies, copy service and other facilities to support the business community are underway at Evans Road and Weston Parkway.  Many are already conveniently nearby, and within Weston itself.

The roadways surrounding Weston define the immediate sub market.  Harrison Square, a neighborhood shopping center on North Harrison Avenue between Weston Parkway and I-40 offers restaurants and local shops. The 20-acre, 15-building headquarters of SAS is just off North Harrison.  Several other major businesses are headquartered nearby.

Lodging: Embassy Suites and StudioPlus offer lodging less that a quarter -mile from Weston. Both are next door to Harrison Square Shopping Center.  Embassy Suites, completed in early 1998, has 273 guestrooms, a 9-story atrium, indoor pool and nearly 20,000 square feet of meeting space.  StudioPlus offers 70 fully furnished deluxe studios for extended stays.

RDU International Airport: About five minutes from Weston, is RDU International Airport, home to 17 airlines with five major cargo carriers and 43 domestic and four nonstop international destinations.

Shopping & Food Services:  Harrison Square Shopping Center, with 150,000 square feet of retail and commercial development, is the closest shopping and food service center to Weston-less than a quarter-mile away.

Nearby, at the southwest corner or North Harrison Avenue and Weston Parkway, The Arboretum is taking shape, with 160,000 square feet of retail/restaurant space and 150,000 square feet of hotel, condominium and O&I space. Place for the innovative mixed-use development center on a quaint commercial village theme setting.

Existing retail development close-by in Cary includes the 1.1 million-square -foot Cary Towne Center, anchored by Hudson Belk, Sears, JCPenney, Dillard's and Hecht's. Another nearby retail development is the 655,000-square-foot Crossroads Plaza at I-40 and US 1 with Stein Mart, Service Merchandise, Marshall's and Target.

Childcare & Schools: Less than a quarter of a mile from Weston on Harrison Oaks Road and next to Weston Parkway is a 150-child KinderCare Learning Center with programs for infants to 12 years old, including before and after-school care. At North Harrison Avenue is Cary Academy, a private school for grades 1-12. Some of the highest performing of Wake County's public elementary, middle and high schools, including year-round programs, are located within a five-mile radius of Weston.

Residential Neighborhoods: Weston sits in a mainly residential area, except for most of the land around Aviation Parkway, which are zoned O&I.  These neighborhoods make it easy for Weston's executives and workers to live in attractive areas close to their work sites.  Weston Pointe, a 125-acre development, is between Weston Parkway and Cary Parkway in the Weston PUD central area.

Also within the PUD are the 288 unit luxury Westover Hills apartments, just south of Cary Parkway off North Harrison Avenue. Elsewhere in Cary are desirable residential opportunities in various price ranges. Closest to Weston are Beechtree Condominiums, Dublin Woods, Harvest Estates and Wessex (see Site Plan) with homes in the $350,000 range.

Recreation:  A wide array of outdoor recreational opportunities are in and around Weston. Onsite is a five-foot-wide paved trail designed for hiking, jogging and biking. The trail winds around Weston and between major tracts and connects to the Town of Cary greenway system.

Less than five minutes away is Lake Crabtree County Park, just north of Weston across the 520-acre Lake Crabtree.  Weston's 215 acres include hiking trails, picnic shelters, sailboat rentals, a fishing pier and dock and boat launching area, as well as an amphitheatre. A variety of programs appeal to children and special interest groups.
